Gracie is one of the oldest handpainted wallpaper companies in the world, and they partnered with us to build beautiful one of a kind friezes and murals throughout the space. Dive into each one of them!

The crown jewel of our garden room, our custom floral chandelier from Cox London hangs over our corner dining table. Made of hundreds of hand crafted metallic petals painted red, green, purple and gold, our chandelier was designed specifically for Maxwell and serves as the inspirational centerpiece of the entire room.

At Maxwell we’re incredibly sensitive to noise and we wanted an elegant way to divide up our spaces while giving us the optionality of a large event but the ability to close off parts our our space for smaller intimate events as well.
Crypton helped us choose a intricate strawberry velvet pattern that adds depth to our curtain’s design as you get closer, and Fabricut provided the bullion and tassel fringe, and intricate curtain tiebacks, all in a rich coral color combination that served as an elegant contrast to our deep red curtains.
We went for a classic swag curtain combo, the type you’d see in 18th century mansions, and we invested heavily in their noise proofing qualities – a classic theatre curtain is about 32 ounces per linear yard, and the Maxwell curtains are 48!

A classic hand painted shaker kitchen isn’t complete without some old-school copper pots and pans, and Ruffoni delivered for Maxwell, rolling out everything from smaller serving dishes to massive baking pans, in copper and in nickel and with their sitature acorn and bird handles as well.

The saying goes that hardware is the jewelry of the home, and all the fine brass details at Maxwell are due to Armac Martin.

Being able to pour your own drink is a key part of being at home, so Maxwell makes sure every member has access to a liquor locker where they can store their goods. Our lockers are custom designed by Maxwell with Armac Martin knobs and handles, and come in 4 bottle private, 8 bottle private or public shared sizes.

Vaughan Designs collaborated with Maxwell to supply two Windemere chandeliers and two colonial style chandeliers, and created custom lampshades for them as well with one of their signature fabrics.
The colonial chandeliers bring a more British cotswolds vibe into otherwise very French room, and we placed them over our two kitchen islands. The Windemere chandeliers are gold painted leaves that complement the leaves of the Cox London chandelier nicely and the vines on the wall.

Everyone has a fantasy of their ultimate kitchen, and we have two. Maxwell’s shaker kitchens have big plate racks, combine colors and natural wood seamlessly, and have our favorite classic kitchen feature: Ladders. Outfitted by JennAir appliances, each kitchen has a custom soda machine for members to serve themselves. Every kitchen cabinet has Armac Martin hinges, knobs, and pulls and is hand painted.

Maxwell’s vibe is gilded age, roaring 20’s Art Deco, so when we ran across photos of Adolf Loos’s creations, a German designer from the Jugendstil (Germany’s Art Deco movement) period, we fell in love with his skirt chandeliers.
So we came up with our own version of it, adding some fringe, some additional layers to the rectangle chandelier version and changing the ball on the top from brass to copper. We got them custom manufactured and at some point will make them purchasable so you can have one of your very own.
Since we’ve launched the Maxwell chandelier we’ve noticed the format getting more popular, seeing it pop up in rooms at the Chelsea Hotel, which means we’re in good company!

Maxwell’s secret easter egg is our secret library door in our grand bookcase. By pushing in the exact right place you can open up a secret passage between our Grand Room and Garden Room. Perfect for any grand reveal, cocktails that lead into dinner, or just a fun party trick!
