Some nights at Maxwell feel like stepping directly into New York’s cultural history. The New Yorker Cartoonists Party was one of those nights.
To mark the 100-year anniversary of The New Yorker, the magazine’s cartoonists decided to host their own celebration — distinct from the official festivities — and they chose Maxwell as the stage.
Among them was Michael Litwack — Maxwell founder David Litwack’s brother — whose work has appeared not only in The New Yorker but also in The New York Times and other leading publications. He was joined by legends who have been drawing for The New Yorker for half a century, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a new generation of rising talent.
The night even featured a surprise comedy set by Ronny Chieng, star of Crazy Rich Asians, whose quick wit and energy brought the room to life. Maxwell members mingled with cartooning royalty, sharing stories and laughter in a way that can only happen here.
It was a night of true cultural exchange that can only really happen at Maxwell.
