Maxwell Social partnered with Mirror NYC and Ancestry to transform our space into a nostalgic and retro holiday home, inspired by the personal family history of an iconic holiday movie figure. 

The entire venue was customized to feel like an intimate residence, creating a unique backdrop for the evenings theme. Guests were invited to explore their own heritage with help of Ancestry’s experts, and in doing so they were able to uncover meaningful stories and personal connections throughout the night.

In the spirit of Christmas, guests enjoyed our decorated space - Christmas trees, stockings and Nutcrackers on the fireplace, custom bar, Hart’s Tavern, in our Explorers room and more. We even arranged a cookie decorating station with fresh cookies, cookie gun and pastry decorator. If you didn’t feel like eating cookies, a buffet station was waiting in the Grand Room kitchen with many tasty treats made by our team of chefs.

Ancestry, in collaboration with Gabriela Ceballos, helped prepare a charm station where you could create jewelry inspired by family. Most of Maxwell, that was then for a day turned into a Holiday Home, was decorated with unique ancestry fun facts and family trees of special guests that joined us.

We wanted to create a very interactive layout that gave guests the opportunity to sit down and discuss what they found with a genealogist and each other. Mementos that the guests would have never been able to discover were the gifts this holiday-inspired evening offered and we’re proud to have been able to provide this amazing space for such a unique celebration of heritage and holiday joy.
