Choosing the right wedding venue in New York City is one of the most important decisions a couple will make. You're not just finding four walls to host your guests, but you want to set the tone right for one of the most meaningful days of your life.

That’s part of what draws couples to Maxwell Social, a wedding venue set inside a historic Tribeca brownstone filled with layered rooms, warm lighting, and the kind of details you usually only find in a home. Rather than a blank loft or hotel ballroom, Maxwell feels like a place that’s already lived in and where dinner tables are meant to be filled, conversations run long, and celebrations unfold naturally.

The house itself does a lot of the work. From the Grand Room to the Garden Room and library spaces, each corner has its own atmosphere, making it easy to move from ceremony to cocktails to dinner without the night ever feeling staged. From hand-painted wallpaper and wood paneling to marble and old-world details, the interiors are rich with texture, giving couples the backdrop of a New York City wedding venue that already feels complete.

This is what makes Maxwell different from many other Manhattan wedding venues. Couples don’t need to build a wedding from scratch or transform a raw space with rentals. The design and character are already there, which means there is more time to focus on the moments that make a wedding unforgettable.

Ceremony And Reception Spaces

Every wedding at Maxwell feels distinct because the venue offers multiple spaces that can be used in harmony. Couples often host their ceremony in one room, move guests into another for cocktails or dinner, and then transition seamlessly into dancing without losing cohesion.

The Grand Room is the centerpiece of the venue. With seating for up to 80 or standing room for 150, it has been the setting for countless ceremonies, receptions, and milestone celebrations. Its high ceilings, fireplace, and dramatic hand-painted wallpaper give the space a commanding presence, making it ideal for vows, toasts, or formal dining. The room provides a setting worthy of life’s biggest moments.

The Garden Room offers a different kind of beauty. Filled with natural light and opening onto a private patio, it creates a softer, more open atmosphere. Engagement parties and wedding receptions find a natural home here, where the indoor-outdoor flow keeps guests comfortable and connected.

Together, the Grand Room and Garden Room provide couples with the flexibility to shape the flow of their celebration.

Built-In Decor

Like the best private members clubs in the world, Maxwell takes a stance — our aesthetic is distinct and appeals to our members. We are not a white box for you to create a completely new world for your ceremony.

That's good and bad. If you want everything custom, we're probably not for you. But if you like our aesthetic, we want to make it so that you can get away with minimal additional decoration, because the space speaks for itself.

Our Garden Room is Cotswolds country kitchen meets Versailles, while our Grand Room is darker and more masculine, with wood-paneled walls, pub tile fireplaces, and leather fireplace fenders.

Each channels a separate classic private members club ethos — the English manor countryside in Oxfordshire, a Downton Abbey-style fantasy right here in Tribeca in our Garden Room, and a distinct Mayfair old-school British social club in the heart of London that feels like it has been around for 300 years in our Grand Room.

Wedding Planning Included (To a Point)

While we won't pretend to take the role of a traditional wedding planner, the fact that Maxwell is an all-in-one venue means we can take the majority of stress off your hands. For smaller weddings, some couples have found no need to hire a traditional wedding planner at all. With the ability to book and schedule florals, use all our existing decor, in-house glassware, plates, and candles, in-house AV and DJ equipment, a roster of performers from jazz bands to DJs and cover bands from every era (70s, 80s, 90s), and relationships with caterers, private chefs, and our in-house staff, much of the coordination is taken care of by the Maxwell team. These details save couples time, money, and stress, and focus on celebrating rather than coordinating endless logistics.

Elopements, Microweddings & Traditional Ceremonies

Maxwell is perfect for the couple that wants a small ceremony and then a big after party. The width of our rooms really only supports a ceremony of up to 40 or so guests if the bride would like to walk down the aisle, so we're often chosen as a spot for rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, or after parties.

There is an increasing trend toward non-traditional weddings — courthouse ceremonies, elopements, and microweddings. In fact, 26% of engaged couples are considering a small or no ceremony paired with a larger after party, and Maxwell is perfectly suited for exactly that.

Wedding Tablescaping & Rentals

Maxwell has a tabletop for every vibe you want for your wedding. You can rent plates and cutlery from external vendors if you like, but we have every type of glassware, serving platter, platform, and display you can imagine — in wood, ceramic, brass, and more.

Regal, dark, and classy gold leaf and geometric-pattern plates pair beautifully with our Grand Room, complete with traditional candelabras and lanterns to light your table. Summery, cottage, and floral patterns go perfectly in our Garden Room.

We have linens, napkin rings, cordless table lamps in five varieties, and eight different types of candles and candelabras — from votives to taper candles. We have enough tables to accommodate your entire party.

Every couple seems to share the same regret after their wedding: they didn't realize how much every additional detail would cost, with itemized charges from external vendors all looking to make a large margin off your special day. At Maxwell, everything can be done in-house, and we specialize in all-inclusive pricing so your wedding is as stress-free as possible.
