Where artistry meets celebration, and every creation becomes a masterpiece
The Choreographer of Sugar
In the heart of Manhattan's Garment District, where fashion meets artistry, Ron Ben Israel has been orchestrating moments of pure magic for over two decades. Founded by Ron Ben-Israel in 1999, the company's flagship design studio and bakery called Manhattan's fashionable SoHo neighborhood home for over 15 years before moving to their current expansive location with over 4,500 square feet in the heart of Manhattan's Garment District.
This isn't just a bakery — it's one of the finest couture cake studios of our times, known for innovative and impeccable creations. Ron's journey from the ballet studio to the pastry kitchen reads like a love letter to transformation itself. A former dancer, he fell in love with a chocolate-maker while on tour in Canada, and with typical resolve, he traded in his ballet slippers for a whisk and a spatula.
The Master's Touch
Ron Ben-Israel (born 1957) is an Israeli-American pastry chef who has truly become America's cake maestro, the wizard and darling of the industry. His background is as rich as his confections — the discipline he had acquired during years of scrupulous training and a rigorous performance schedule—and during his military service in the Israeli army—helped him as he pursued his new vocation.
He is known for his wedding and special occasion cakes as well as for his detail in sugar paste flowers. Every creation carries the weight of his unique perspective: "Each cake is like a performance—my team and I feel like we are attending countless opening nights every weekend".
The Media Darling
Ron's artistry has transcended the kitchen to become a cultural phenomenon. From 2011 to 2013, he hosted the cooking competition TV show Sweet Genius, and the bakery received additional acclaim in 2011, when Ron became host and judge of the Food Network's hit show Sweet Genius for three seasons, which has since been syndicated around the world, as well as a judge for three seasons on the FN's show Cake Wars as well as several holiday specials.
His cakes have been featured in The New York Times, New York magazine, In Style, and Vogue, among others. His specialty and wedding creations are consistently featured in national periodicals, including Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides Magazine and New York Magazine and are also prominently highlighted in books, such as Vera Wang on Weddings.
The Celebrity Cake Architect
The collections of trendsetting cakes have been featured in countless books, TV shows, films and publications and can also be spotted in many of New York's premiere hotels and venues. Ron's client list reads like a who's who of New York's elite, though he maintains a policy of discretion: "Simply put, we don't like to name-drop. We treat all of our clients as if they are the most important people in the world when we design and execute their cakes".
What we do know is that Food Network star and master chef Ron Ben Israel personally presented a wedding cake at The Plaza Hotel for what was the very first same sex wedding at The Plaza Hotel, New York City's iconic centerpiece at the base of Central Park and Fifth Avenue.

The Educator and Mentor
Beyond the celebrity and acclaim, Ron's commitment to sharing his craft runs deep. He is the only Guest Master Pastry Chef at the renowned International Culinary Center in New York City (founded as the French Culinary Institute), where he contributed to the creation of the Cake Techniques & Design program. Ron also leads workshops, master classes and personally appears at industry events around the world, including Sugar Salon Paris, Cake Design Festival Milan, LA Cookie Con in Los Angeles, America's Cake Fair Orlando, Cake & Bake Masters Mexico City, Tendencias in Cartagena, Columbia and many others.
The Philosophy of Perfection
"I had originally gone to fine art school to study set design, but then dance took over. And now it's fondant and cake. I am so pleased that the kitchen and I found each other. I'm where I was meant to be" — this is the heart of Ron Ben Israel's philosophy. It's about finding one's calling and pursuing it with relentless passion.
Each time he fashions a cake—and he's designed thousands of stunning, one-of-a-kind gateaux in his career—he's as thrilled as he would be if it were his first masterpiece. This is the mark of a true artist: never losing that sense of wonder, that commitment to excellence, that belief that every creation deserves nothing less than perfection.
The Legacy Continues
The master confectioner choreographs in sugar, and in doing so, he's created something that transcends mere confectionery. Ron Ben Israel Cakes represents the intersection of art, celebration, and memory — where life's most precious moments are given form in sugar and flour, where dreams are made edible, and where every cake tells the story of a life worth celebrating.
