Potluck Club is a Cantonese-American restaurant in Chinatown that blends new takes on classic dishes with a deep sense of community, heritage, and nostalgia. Created by five best friends—including co-owner Ricky Nguyen—the restaurant is a homage to the neighborhood they grew up in and to the small businesses that shaped their lives. Its name reflects the spirit of communal dining, where everyone brings something to the table, whether food, stories, or shared memories.
The space itself is as intentional as the menu. Once a sausage factory owned by the grandfather of co-owner Cory, it has been transformed into a stylish, welcoming restaurant that feels like stepping into another world. Guests are greeted by imagery from Hong Kong cinema, setting a tone of cultural pride and memory, while the open-concept kitchen places the craft of cooking at center stage.
Potluck Club’s menu, led by Executive Chef Zhan, reinterprets beloved Cantonese dishes with personal touches. Favorites include the endive salad with tiger figs and dragon fruit, salt and pepper chicken, and their most popular dish—rice roll noodles with beef, a creative spin on beef chow fun made in partnership with a small local business. Every dish honors family traditions and the flavors of Chinatown while introducing a fresh perspective.
Beyond food, Potluck Club is dedicated to preserving Chinatown’s cultural and economic vibrancy. The owners see their work as part of a larger effort to sustain neighborhood businesses and inspire others to invest in the community. For Ricky and his partners, the restaurant is both personal and generational—a place where parents and children can dine together, bridging traditions old and new.
More than just a restaurant, Potluck Club is a celebration of Chinatown’s past, present, and future—a space built with friendship, memory, and pride at its heart.
