The New Yorker Centoonial Party

The cultural event roundup from Maxwell

By David Litwak | February 24 2025

A few months ago my brother became a New Yorker cartoonist, and a couple weeks ago he called me up with a proposal — in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of The New Yorker, the cartoonists wanted to throw a party. Would we like to host it?

It was a quick “fuck yes” and last Saturday our members and legendary cartoonists, some of whom had been cartooning for almost 50 years, mixed and mingled and watched a standup comedy routine in our living room.

As a thanks for hosting they made us our very own Maxwell cartoon and all signed it . . .

Ronny Chieng of Crazy Rich Asians/The Daily Show fame popped in at the last moment to test out some new material . . .

And the cartoonists conducted an Elsa Maxwell trained seal inspired live caption contest for us as well.

It has always been our goal to create a true New York icon here in Tribeca, the type of spot that in 50 years people talk about how our generation’s version of Warhol used to hang out there, and events like this contribute towards building that culture.

We’re launching our Spring ‘25 cohort soon, so. . . .
